Qualcomm Technologies and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) have partnered to develop Saudi Arabia’s capabilities in 6G, Edge AI and next-generation wireless technologies, combining industry training with applied research and talent development.
Under the collaboration, KAUST students will access Qualcomm-led courses covering 5G, AI, generative AI, Edge AI and on-device AI through the Qualcomm Academy. Advanced training will also cover areas such as 5G architecture, millimetre-wave technologies, massive MIMO and protocol design.
KAUST researchers will use Qualcomm platforms to explore digital twins, physical AI, RF sensing, agentic AI and extended reality. Projects include AI-powered underwater exploration, augmented reality for car parking and intelligent structural health monitoring using Edge AI to monitor infrastructure.
The partners will also support pathways for taking university research into the market.
