Google Cloud has introduced a new Gemini agent designed to handle enterprise tasks ranging from research and content creation to coding and data analysis through a single interface.
Announced at Gemini at Work 2026 by Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian, the agent can plan tasks, connect to business systems and execute multi-step workflows. It can operate across web and mobile devices, desktop environments and collaboration platforms, while maintaining context across sessions.
Gemini can also coordinate specialised sub-agents for complex tasks and create persistent coworker agents with dedicated identities, email accounts and access permissions. Within Google Workspace, it works directly across Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Chat and Calendar, enabling users to delegate work without switching between applications.
For data teams, Google Cloud is adding capabilities that allow engineers to generate and troubleshoot data pipelines, while business users can create operational reports using plain-language queries integrated with BigQuery and Knowledge Catalog.
The platform includes identity management, role-based permissions, audit trails and an Agent Sandbox, with Agent Gateway enforcing network and organisational policies across agents.
“It plans the work, uses skills and tools, connects to your systems, and brings back something finished,” Kurian said.
